“Inside Danny’s Box” by talented playwright Derek Murphy premiered at Origin Theatre’s 1st Irish Festival in January 2019, garnering nominations for Best Actress (Yours Truly), Best Director (Lisa Milinazzo), and Best Design (Joanne Steinhardt, Jessie Bonaventure, Michael O’Connor, Robert A.K. Gonyo, & Simone Daniel). I was honored to receive the Spirit Of The Festival Award for my efforts as Producer.

I wrote "Mine" when I was a Mergers and Acquisitions paralegal at a major international law firm. I was assigned to collect document signatures on behalf of my firm's client. A month after my trip, one of our "acquisitions" lost 12 men in a mining disaster. I was deeply affected by the tragedy and disturbed by my connection to the loss of life now being played out on CNN. And I was disheartened by the disconnection I felt at my job and in New York City. It became very clear that the business-as-usual means of serving a client had an unseen and profound impact on lives well beyond midtown Manhattan. I wondered how to account for my small link in a chain that connected a billionaire CEO with his corporate lawyers with mine executives -- and finally with blue collar workers who labor under dangerous underground conditions for West Virginia wages. What is the distance between those who push paper and those who risk their lives? "Mine" premiered at the Broadway Bound Festival in 2017 in NYC, and was directed by Rachel Dart. I have been re-writing the play and hope to mount it in a commercial production Off-Broadway.

Derek Murphy’s hilarious “Dyin’ For It” premiered at Origin Theatre’s 1st Irish Festival in January 2018, garnering nominations for Best Production (Deasy and Murphy Productions), Best Play (Derek Murphy), Best Actress (Yours Truly), and a win for John Keating as Best Director.

Stay tuned!
